Obituary for Vera Marie Warner

Vera Marie Warner (83) -- Mrs. Warner passed away on April 4, 2020, at her long-time home in New Castle, Delaware. She was preceded in death by her father, Hermann Bohn, and her mother Elfriede (Finckler), her sister, Renate, and her brother, Jens-Uwe.

Born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, she emigrated to the United States at the age of 18 where she found work as a nanny. After marrying her devoted husband, Donald Warner, she spent the next 60 years as a loving homemaker and kind caretaker to all. If you had a favorite recipe, Vera would be sure to make it for you! In fact, her wooden spoon was not only used in cooking her famous pancakes, but in playfully threatening anyone who was being mean to others. A well-known defender of all underdogs, Vera collected and lovingly cared for strays -- both animals and people. She was always at peace in her beloved flower garden watching her birds.

She will be sorely missed by her husband, her sons Michael and David, her daughter Vera Prough, her son-in-law Aaron Prough, and her grandchildren, Maximillian and Lilith. She is also survived by two brothers, 2 sisters, and their families.

Due to the COVID outbreak, all services will be private. The family requests that contributions be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, FDR Station, P.O. Box 220, New York, NY, 10150 in lieu of flowers.
