Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
Lex was born on July 26, 1937 to the late Alexis C. and Catherine R. Saville. He attended St. Paul's grade school and was a proud member of the last graduating class of Salesianum School (1956) that was located at 8th and West. Over the course of his life, he worked at Electric Hose and Rubber, ICI Americas, and later in life, he enjoyed serving as a bus aid for the Colonial School District helping to transport children with disabilities to their schools.
In 1963, Lex married the love of his life, Margaret (Murphy) Saville "Peggy". Lex and Peggy had three children, and over 50 years together, they enjoyed raising their family and doting on their grandchildren. Lex was born and raised in Wilmington and you could often find him working around St. Pauls or chauffeuring Monsignor Taggart. Once he and Peggy married, they moved to New Castle to raise their family.
Lex had a great zeal for family and friends and his infectious personality will be missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed, among other things, dancing the jitterbug with Peggy, breakfast at the diner after Sunday Mass, and spending time with his grandchildren. Lex was a member of the Rod and Gun Club and St. Anthony's Club and a proud member of the LUCIANs (Laity United for Christ in America).
Lex is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Ann, and two brothers, Bill Saville and Joseph Saville. He is survived by his wife, Peggy of 50 years; his children, Stephen A. Saville and his wife, Barbara, and State Senator Nicole Poore, and her husband, Bill; his 5 grandchildren, Stephen A. Saville Jr., Nicholas Poore, Alexis Poore, Luke Poore, and Sarah Saville.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Churchmans Village and Fresenius and Lex's life-long friend and doctor, Somasunderam Padmalingam (Dr. Padman).
