Obituary
Passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wilmington, DE on April 17, 1935 to the late James A. Lynch and Ann (Samluk) Lynch, Ann or "Honey" as she was affectionately known to all who loved her, was a kind, gentle woman, who loved listening to Irish music, following the Phillies, watching professional football, and most of all spending time with her loved ones, most especially her beloved grandchildren.
Honey attended St. Elizabeth High School, and married her high school sweetheart, Martin F. Coen, in 1955. She left her employment with the DuPont Company in 1956 to begin the job she enjoyed most in life, being a mother. After her children were grown, she returned to work and eventually retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She spent her retirement years caring for her grandchildren and being the best Mom Mom in the world.
A lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Church, Honey, a devout catholic, drew great comfort and strength from her faith especially in her final days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin F. Coen, her sister, Kathleen Walsh, and her in-laws, George Walsh and Betty Ann Lynch.
Honey is survived by her sons, Martin F. Coen, Jr., and his wife, Mary Ann, Patrick G. Coen, and Michael P. Coen and his partner, Andrea Brinton; her daughter, Maureen Dunning and her husband, Michael; her grandchildren, Kevin Coen (Kristina), Shannon Xarhoulakos (Michael), Erin Coen, Martin Coen, III, and Michael Dunning; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, James A. Lynch, Jr., Francis S. Lynch (Nancy); her sister, Marie L. Freebery (Jack); and her goddaughter and best friend, Nancy McCaffery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth R. C. Church, 809 South Broom Street, Wilmington, on Saturday, November 29, at 10:30 am. A viewing will take place at the church from 9:30-10:30.
