Obituary

Ann M. Schieffer, 94, of Cokesbury Village, Hockessin

Born December 7, 1931 passed on to new life on August 31, 2026.

Ann was a life-long Delawarean and a graduate of St. Thomas School and Wilmington High School.

She was an administrative assistant at Delaware Power & Light where she met her husband of 44 years, Ed Schieffer, Sr., who pre-deceased her in 1995.

Ann was a devoted homemaker while their sons were young, then worked at the University of Delaware for many years before retiring in 1993. At U of D she worked in administration and was tireless in helping students with grading and transcript issues.

Ann & Ed were members of Corpus Christi and St. Elizabeth Catholic Churches in Wilmington for many years and were part of the founding members of Corpus Christi’s Home and School Association. Ann was recently a member of Parish of the Resurrection in Pike Creek.

Ann is survived by her three sons, Edmund F. Jr. (Sue) of Pike Creek, Kenneth J. (Dianne) of Bear and William H. (Dawn) of Bonita Springs, FL.

Ann’s family was always first in her heart and mind. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren - in whom she absolutely delighted.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Friday, September 4 at Parish of the Resurrection Catholic Church, 3000 Videre Drive, Pike Creek. Visitation will be at the Church beginning at 10AM. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery at a later date.

Our family extends our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of WillowBrooke Court and Acts Hospice for their patient, loving care of Ann. Instead of flowers, we suggest a donation in her memory to Acts Legacy Foundation.
