IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anne "Nancy" L.
O'Neill
March 18, 1936 – February 4, 2026
Anne "Nancy" L. O'Neill
Age 89 of Wilmington Passed away on February 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, on March 18, 1936, Nancy was a proud graduate of St. Elizabeth's Grade School and High School, where she met the love of her life, Thomas O’Neill.
On October 20, 1956, she married Tom and they embarked on a journey marked by 69 blessed years of love and laughter. Nancy's devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. As the matriarch, she created a home filled with warmth and cherished traditions, especially her famous Christmas party.
Nancy was an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth's, where she dedicated her time and energy in any way that was needed. She was committed to her faith with a particular devotion to the Blessed Mother. Beyond St. Elizabeth’s, Nancy was a proud member of the Wilmington Turners Club and Claymore Women’s Club.
Nancy found joy in shopping, and could often be found strolling the aisles of John Wanamaker's and J.C. Penney’s. A piece of Hershey’s chocolate and a cup of tea shared with family or friends never failed to bring a smile to her face. Whether hosting family gatherings at the cabin, vacations at Dewey Beach, or cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at their milestones, Nancy’s presence was a comforting constant in their lives.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Agnes (Halloran) Rimlinger, brother-in-law, Francis Brady, and her dear friends, Louise McGinness and Mary Manista.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas O’Neill; children, Patty Saxton (Rick) and Andrew O'Neill; grandchildren, Valerie Saxton (Nate) and Ricky Saxton (Brittany); and her great-grandchildren, Sienna Saxton and Hazy Saxton. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Jeanne Brady, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and her constant canine companion, King. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth R.C. Church, 809 S. Broom St., Wilm., DE 19805, on Thursday, February 12 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Due to the inclement weather the burial will take place privately at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy’s memory to the charity of your choice.
