Obituary

Anne Malloy Quinn

Age 82 * Wilmington

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 16, 2016.

Anne was born on July 29, 1934 in Wilmington to the late Joseph and Marion (Campbell) Malloy. She was a proud 1952 graduate of St. Elizabeth High School. Upon graduating, Anne entered the workforce as a Secretary at Wilmington DuPont Shops for 8 years, and a Medical Secretary for Dr. Joseph Barsky for 15 years. In 1958, she married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, John J. Quinn, Jr. (Jack). She waited for him faithfully for 2 years while he served in the US Navy. Together they built their life in Wilmington and raised their eight children. Anne was a dedicated parishioner of St. John the Beloved since 1958. She was a member of the Mid-County Senior Center, where she greatly enjoyed the friendships she shared with the other members, and she also volunteered many hours at the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Anne's family is comforted knowing that she will be reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Jack, who preceded her in death in 2010. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Malloy, and her brothers, Joseph Malloy, James Malloy, and Michael Malloy.

Anne had a very full life, during which she enjoyed traveling, learning new things, reading, cooking, attending plays, holding babies, caring for her many grandchildren, and spending time with her late husband at their second home of more than 30 years in Fenwick Island, DE. Anne was lucky to have many life-long friends with whom she shared countless fond memories. They affectionately referred to one another as the "Club". Anne also enjoyed spending time with her friends in the Salesianum Class of 1952 Thursday Group. However, Anne's greatest joy of all was spending time with her large family.

Anne will be dearly missed by her seven loving children, Diane Deery (Bill), Anne Marie Quinn (Ted Babiy), Jack Quinn (Mary), Mary Quinn Boord (Ron), Joseph A. Quinn, Kevin M. Quinn (Lisa), Eileen Quinn Peters (Chris); her 20 dear grandchildren, Mary Ellen Dietz, Linda Kusters (Mike), Casey Nagy (Will), Katie Babiy, Brenna Babiy, Merritt Babiy, Marie Beckett (Dave), Stephanie Elwood (Mike), Taylor Talley (Andrew), Maggie Valencia (Gary Duren), Clare Valencia, Jennifer Valencia, Joshua Quinn, Sydney Quinn, Shannon Quinn, Jacob Quinn, Christopher Peters, Ellie Peters, and Ronan Peters; and her eight beloved great-grandchildren, Joseph Dietz, Ryan Dietz, Katie Kusters, Bella Kusters, Cara Elwood, Kelsey Beckett, Kyle Beckett, and Jack Talley. Anne is also survived by her sisters, Judy Cassello, Marion Donahue (Phil), and Margaret Mary Redmond (John); her brother-in-law, Paul Gerard Quinn (Joan Keane); her sisters-in-law, Clare Kane and Kathleen Quinn (Tom Stringer); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Each and every one of them will miss spending time at her home on holidays, her famous wagging finger, her quick wit, strong will, contagious laugh, and beautiful, clear blue eyes.

Anne's family would like to thank Dr. Susan Peluso, MD, PhD for her excellent care of Anne over the years.
