Barbara A. Carroll

Age 70 - Garnet Vally formerly of Wilmington

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, at her home on Sunday, July 6, 2014.

She was born in Collingswood, NJ, the daughter of Edwin and Virginia (Wilfon) McCaffrey. She grew up in Drexel Hill, PA, and was a 1962 graduate of Upper Darby High School. She married Jack Carroll in 1968 and moved to Wilmington in 1969. She raised her family and provided office support to the family business, Carroll's Carpet Care, until 1990. After 1990, she worked at numerous companies including DuPont, Aetna, Centocor and Astra Zeneca. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Barbara was known for her bright smile and her love of family, friends, travel and fitness. She also greatly enjoyed summers in Sea Isle City, NJ.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Carroll, and her father, Edwin. She is survived by her mother, Virginia; brother, Robert McCaffrey and his wife, Sheba; sister-in-law Alma (Carroll) Swartzbaugh and her husband, Bill; three children, Don Carroll and his partner, Robert Laurita, of Sherman Oaks, CA; Michael Carroll and his wife, Stacey, of Wilmington; and Patricia (Carroll) Tinney and her husband, Jay, of Newark; as well as four grandchildren, Moira, Brayden, Maureen, and Morgan.

Friends may call during visitation which will be offered from 9:00-10:30 am, Thursday, July 10, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1120 Darley Rd, Wilmington, DE. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation.

The family wishes to thank her visiting nurse Roxanne Gariffo, and the staff of Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Barbara's memory to be made to either one of these charities being run in her name by her son Don and niece Lisa:
