Obituary

Benedict G. Halko, Jr.

Age 50 died peacefully on Friday, March 6th at his Newark home after a long illness.

He was the son of the late Jean (DeJohn) and Benedict G. Halko, Sr. Raised in New Castle, Ben played football and wrestled for William Penn High School. He played many sports, but what he enjoyed the most were the countless hours he spent on the ice as a goalie. He even founded his own ice hockey team, the Blazers.

Ben was a finish carpenter and mechanic before his illness. He is survived by his long time companion and the love of his life, Dorothy 'Dot' Hartman. He is also survived by two brothers, Thomas and his wife Marita of New Castle and Edwin of Bear. He will be missed by many friends, his nephews, Stephen, Karl and Andrew, and his "best little buddy", Chuckie, Dot's grandson.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 5th & Harmony Streets, New Castle at 11AM on Thursday morning, March 12th. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 AM to 11 AM Thursday morning. Burial at All Saints Cemetery will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Church or a charity of your choice.
