Benjamin F. Hendrickson, affectionately known as Bummie, age 80, of New Castle, DE passed away on May 3, 2020 at Manor Care Health Service-Pike Creek. Bummie waged a good fight against Parkinson and Lewy Body dementia (LBD) since 2010. He did his best to cope and accept the impact of these diseases on him.

Bummie was an Iron Worker with Local 451 for 59 years and served as Officer in many capacities for the Union. He retired January 1997 and was proud to have three generations of iron workers in the family. Bummie was a member at St. Anthonys and St. Gabes in New Castle. He enjoyed playing the slots at Delaware Park, Harrah's and Dover Downs.

Born on December 9, 1939 and preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Ben Hendrickson; his first wife, Lydia (Freebery) Hendrickson; his son, Benny Hendrickson; and his brother, George Hendrickson. Bummie is survived by his wife of 33 years, Paula Hendrickson; his sister, Katherine Simmons of Greensboro, NC; his children: Jeff Hendrickson (Dianne) of New Castle, DE; Sally Blackburn (John) of New Castle, DE; Susie Osborne (Jon) of Rising Sun, MD; stepson Wayne Goodman (Michele) of Middletown, DE and his grandchildren Lindsay, Alexis, Zach, Lydia, Morgan, Eric, Holly and great grandson, Vincent Miller.
