Passed away at Christiana Hospital on Monday, October 19, 2015. Bertha was the daughter of Richard and Bertha (Stoepke) Ludtke. She was born and raised in Wilmington, and was a graduate of Goldey-Beacom College. She loved arts and crafts, especially crocheting and sewing. She was a loving homemaker and cooked everything from scratch. She was able to play 12 different instruments and anything with strings. She was active in church and was the organist.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Gearhart, whom she was married to for more than 62 years. Her five siblings also preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Hultsch and husband, John; her son, David; her grandson, Christopher Bowman; her three cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Service on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 7:00 pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 6 North Clifton Avenue, Wilmington. A viewing will take place at the church on Monday evening from 6:00-7:00 pm. Interment will take place on Tuesday, October 27, at 10:00 am in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
