Betty A. Meredith (Grier)

Betty A. Meredith (Grier), age 79, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully at her home on August 11, 2024. Betty was born in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Charles E. Grier, Sr. and Margaret M. (Cousineau) Grier. In 1965, Betty married the love of her life, Joseph "Buddy" A. Meredith.
In addition to her loving husband of 59 years, survivors also include four children, Joseph Meredith and John Meredith of Wilmington, Betty Anne Tarburton (Thomas) of Newark, and Charles Meredith (Colleen) of Wilmington; three siblings, Marie B. Grier of Wilmington, Walter (Sue) Grier of Wilmington, and her sister and closest friend, Madeline Marion (Richard) of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Nicole (Aaron), Jacob, Tommy, Matthew, and Abby; three great-grandchildren, Gianna, Cora, and Oliver; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers Charles "Buck" E. Grier, Jr., and John "Jack" Grier, sisters Margaret M. Radcliff and Eleanor Graves, and grandsons Joseph Daniel "Danny" Meredith and Americo "Eric" Meredith.
Betty attended Corpus Christi School in Elsmere, Delaware, graduating from their High School in 1962. Betty worked at various businesses, including Wilmington Trust, Boeing, Department of Labor prior to retiring after 26 years from The DuPont Company.
In her spare time, Betty liked to crochet, read, watch General Hospital, and most importantly, spend time with her family and friends. Betty enjoyed holiday gatherings, family vacations and traveling, especially to Hawaii, Aruba, Disney World (her favorite ride was "It's a Small World"), Hong Kong and Seoul, Korea. Betty also cherished spending time with her close friends.
Betty will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, 905 New Rd, Wilm., DE 19805 on Monday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 10:00am-11:00am. Interment will take place at All Saints Cemetery.
