Bruce Robert Hoener, 81, passed away peacefully in hospice care in Delaware near family on May 25th 2026. He was born in North Dakota, and grew up in the Midwest and on the East Coast. He was a proud property owner and resided in Maryland his entire adult life.

Bruce is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his youngest sisters: Anne, and Virginia "Ginny"; his nieces and nephews: Tiffany, Amanda, Graham, Tracy, and Jeremy; and by extended family, cherished friends, and coworkers. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Helen; and his sister: Elizabeth "Liz".

Bruce served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war on board the USS Warrington. After his military service, he applied his formal schooling and military training to a career as a Drafting Engineer. A few years later, he decided to pivot his career to become a celebrated long-time account executive for office supplies. Whenever possible, he was delighted to apply his drafting skills to office furniture layouts.

Bruce was a devoted Lutheran with strong faith in God. His kind soul found purpose in helping others through charity. His enthusiasm for cars, planes, boats, trains, history, and politics were undeniable. Always interested in learning more, he was avid reader. Fond of telling stories and known by numerous endearing nicknames, his sociable nature and witty sense of humor easily led to bantering with his buddies or chatting with a stranger. He enjoyed "critters" (with a special affinity for otters), high quality craftsmanship, and had a deep appreciation for fine art and wood work.

The family of Bruce Hoener encourages you to honor his memory and generous nature by:

Making a charitable donation to a cause or organization that you care about;

Learning something new about an animal (incl human);

Visiting a historical site or museum;

Taking a flight in an old plane;

Or a ride in a fast car or aboard steam train.
