Catherine "Cathy" Callahan, age 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Cathy was the youngest daughter of parents, Harry and Catherine, and remained a loving sister to her late siblings, Marie Wahl and Harry O'Neill. Growing up in Springfield PA, she was a proud graduate of St. Dorothy's Grade School, where she made lifelong friends. She later completed her education at Delaware Technical Community College.
Cathy's life was centered around love. Love for her family, her friends, and her faith. After marrying William Feeley, Jr. in 1963, Cathy and Bill established a home in Wilmington, Delaware, where they raised their four children: Peggy Carroll (Patrick), Karolyn Gott (Bill), William Feeley III, and Todd Feeley (Sally). In addition to her children, she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Ashley Gott, Lauren Carroll, Morgan Gott, Justin Carroll, Ella Feeley, Liam Feeley, Brooke Feeley and Grant Feeley.
Later in life, Cathy found love again and married John Callahan, sharing many happy years together before his passing in 2019. Cathy lovingly embraced John's children as her own. Leaving Sally Dylinski (Gerald), Patricia Monteith (Charles), John Callahan (Jacquline), and their children, Sophie and Justin Dylinski, Barbara, Frances, Charles and James Monteith, and Mackenzie and Jack Callahan to remember many cherished memories together. Cathy was always quick to tell a listening ear about her 16 wonderful grandchildren.
Over the years, Cathy enjoyed working as an administrative assistant at ICI/AstraZeneca and also in sales at Strawbridge & Clothier and Macy's. Her warmth and quiet charisma left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. She anchored herself with her faith, and was a devoted and active member of Immanuel Highlands Episcopal Church.
Cathy had a passion for the little joys in life - Mahjong games with friends, tending to her garden, playing cards and bingo, spoiling her cats, and traveling. Some of her favorite destinations included the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Colorado, and Rehoboth Beach, DE, which held a special place in her heart.
Her true joy was found at home - especially around the dinner table during the holidays, where she was the heart of every gathering and always made sure there were enough of her famous mashed potatoes on the table. Her refined taste extended to her favorite foods—filet mignon, shrimp scampi, and especially coleslaw, which she believed should always be made "just right".
Cathy was known for her signature warmth - she always sent a card, remembered the details, and was an avid supporter of her grandchildren's sports and activities.
A celebration of life for Cathy will be held on Wednesday April 23, 2025, at 11:00 am at Immanuel Highlands Episcopal Church, 2400 West 17th St., Wilmington, DE 19806. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery.
