Christopher Henry Dougherty,

Age 72 of Wilmington, Delaware

Passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026. Born on April 17, 1953, Chris was the son of Francis and Clelia Dougherty (Peco) and was a lifelong resident of Elsmere and Wilmington. He was a proud graduate of Conrad High School and continued his education at the University of Delaware, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in 1976. 

Chris served honorably in the United States Army Reserve from 1982 to 1988. He also dedicated himself to a career with the State of Delaware as a clerk in Family Court. Throughout his life, Chris was an avid runner and a fitness enthusiast, he enjoyed travel, and he supported his favorite sports teams, especially the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Blackhawks, and, more recently, the Odessa Ducks. 

He will be remembered for his warm heart and his generous spirit.

Chris is survived by his brothers, Peter and Daniel; his nephews, Dan, Jr. and Andrew (Jackie); as well as numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Clelia and his sister in-law Anne. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, with a public visitation preceding the service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place privately. 

The family would like to thank his cousins, his life-long friends and his neighbors and the management team at the Dorset Condominium for their support and love.
