David Maxwell Lumb, Sr.
Born July 25, 1930 in Stillpond, MD, died July 18, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. After he served his country he returned home to Wilmington, where he built a life and started his family.
David loved gardening, cooking, and hosting family dinners. He was a great cook. He enjoyed horseracing, shooting pool, and playing shuffleboard. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He never missed a game. His hobbies included working on his cars and around the house as a general handyman.
David lived his life to the fullest with humor, passion, and a genuine love of helping others. He was best known for his unique character, kind heart, and friendly, welcoming spirit. His jokes and stories will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores. David is survived by his son, David Maxwell, Lumb, Jr.; his daughters, Terri Lumb, Kelly Schneider, and Melissa Lumb; his many stepchildren; grandchildren; 3 great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother, Ben Lumb; and sisters, Bettylou Riley and Ruth Hayworth.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Service at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, DuPont Pkwy., New Castle, on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 2 pm. Friends may call at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel from 1 to 2 pm on Monday afternoon. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
