Deborah Sue Colbourne
Age 66 of New Castle
Passed away on February 23, 2025, with her devoted wife by her side.
Debbie was a proud graduate of William Penn High School. She excelled at softball and was an outstanding member of the softball team all 4 years. Debbie was a dedicated employee of Verizon Communications retiring after 35 years of faithful service. During her career she was also a member of Communications Workers of America. However, her true calling in life was mother, wife, and grandmother. Her unwavering support was paramount in all her relationships.
The light of Debbie's life was her unbreakable bond with her only daughter, Christie. She found joy in traveling, especially her many family trips to Disney World. She was an avid boater and was lovingly referred to as Captain Deb. Her happy place was at the beach or on the water. She had a green thumb and took great pride in nurturing her large garden that was well known to her neighbors. Debbie had a love of music and concerts which created the beautiful soundtrack of her life. She always had a passion for Harley Davidsons and was often seen riding around the area. But of all the joys of her life the sweetest of all were the giggles and cuddles Debbie shared with her precious grandbabies.
Debbie will be dearly missed by her loyal wife of 37 years, Victoria Colbourne; her daughter, Christie Colbourne (Kyle); and her grandchildren, Jaiden, Bryce, and Graylee Sue. She is also survived by her brothers, Scott Payton (Rachel) and James Colbourne (Linda); her mother-in-law, Barbara Shinder; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Pesta; many dear members of her extended family near and far; and her best friends that became family, "her Golden Girls", Leslie, Lori, Valerie, Cousin Vicky.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service for Debbie at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 W. 6th St., New Castle, DE 19720, on Friday, March 7 at 1pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Debbie's name to the American Kidney Fund, give.kidneyfund.org.
