Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald "Sonny" Antonio Cote Jr., who departed this life on February 2, 2026, after a long battle with cancer at the age of 69.

Born on September 10, 1956, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Donald was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, coach and friend whose spirit touched the lives of many.

Don would like to thank the Helen Graham Cancer Center for all their help and support.

Don went to Oak Grove, Delcastle and later graduated from Conrad class of 1974. He was a long-time member of the ECAA youth baseball league and coached from t-ball through 13-15 leagues. He held many board positions within the organization including President, Director, and coached girls' softball. He poured his heart and soul into the kids at the ballfield and practically lived there for over a decade. The only thing he loved more than baseball was spending time with his grandchildren.

Don was known for his warm smile, gentle demeanor, and the compassion he showed towards others. He had an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life, often serving as a source of comfort and wisdom to those in need.

Don was preceded in death by his, father, Donald Cote Sr.; his mother, Ethel Mulcahy and wife, Teri Cote.

He is survived by his son, Daniel and his fiancé, Kelly; granddaughters, Natalia, Haven, and Aubria; grandsons, Brayden, and Natalia's brothers, Damon, Jonah, and Humza, as well as their mother Andrea. Don is also survived by his brothers Ronald and Paul; his sisters Carol, Donna-Mae, Janice, and Lorraine; as well as several nieces and nephews and their children.

In honor of Don's life, a funeral service will be held on March 27, 2026, at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Donald are warmly invited to gather to celebrate his memory and share stories of the remarkable man he was.

He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his son, Daniel, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his spirit rest in peace, knowing that he leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
