Dorothy passed away on January 17, 2012 and is now at peace. In her heart, was a special place for each member of her beloved family and a warm corner reserved for dear friends. A lifelong resident of 2nd Street in Old New Castle, Dorothy enjoyed her last two years, free of worry with her niece Mary Lou Zent and Fran Brown, who, along with her sister Janet, provided unparalleled care, generosity and love.

Dorothy was born on September 7, 1928 to James E. Carlin and Anne C. (McDaniel) Carlin. She graduated from St. Peter's High School in 1946 and from the St. Francis School of Nursing in 1949. Dorothy settled into private practice, maintaining the medical and administrative duties for Dr. H. Thomas McGuire, remaining at his side until his retirement in 1982. She later worked as the nurse at Abex Steel. She was dedicated to her profession and her patients.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, M. Kathleen (Bobbie) Zent, and nephew, Nicholas Losten. She is survived by her sister, Janet E. Carlin; and cousin, Carole Ann Kelly. Aunt Dot will be missed by her nieces, Mary Lou Zent (Fran Brown), Marsha Corcoran (John), and Peggie Losten; and her nephew, Jim Zent (Robie). She will also be missed by the next generation of nieces and nephews, Warren Zent, Jocelyn and James Zent, Kathleen, John Francis and Patrick Corcoran, and Stefan and Gabriel Losten.

Dorothy will be buried from St. Peter R. C. Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, the church she has attended for over eighty years. A viewing will be held at the church from 6- 8pm on Tuesday evening, January 24, 2012 with Mass of Christian Burial at the church at 10:30am on Wednesday morning, January 25, 2012. Interment in St. Peter R. C. Church Cemetery, New Castle.
