Dorothy A. Hughes

Age 85, of Elsmere, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Windsor Place on Friday, September 24, 2010.

Dorothy was a lifelong devoted homemaker. She worked at the St. Francis Gift Shop for 18 years retired February 2, 2000.

She was the daughter of the late John J. and Clara E. (Cekine) DeNest. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. "Bus" Hughes, who died in 1981. She is survived by children, Edward "Buzzie" J. Hughes, III, John D. Hughes, Jane H. Porter, Richard P. Hughes, and Carla Cahall; her beloved grandchildren, Buzzie, Sean, J.D., Phillip, and Carly; and her great grandchildren, Kory and Michael. Her greatest joy was being with her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R. C. Church, 901 New Rd., Elsmere, on Wednesday, September 29th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
