Passed away on March 22, 2015 surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 23, 1937, the youngest of 4 daughters, to the late Margaret (Dorris) and John Billingsley. She attended Wilmington High School. In April of 1965, Dorris married the love of her life, Billy K. Emerson.
Dorris was a kind, compassionate, and loving person. These strong characteristics lead her to a career as an oncology health care provider. When she wasn't working, Dorris treasured time spent with her family. She led a simple life dedicated to her loved ones and her Catholic faith.
Dorris was preceded in death by her husband, Billy K. Emerson, and sisters, Margaret Billingsley, Clementine Cael, and Kathleen Manelski.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Clarke (Ed); son, Sean Kelly; grandchildren; Tara Clarke and Trent, Tiernan, Shane, and Chole Kelly; and her great-granddaughter, Sophia Charlton. Dorris will also be dearly missed by her lifelong friend, Madeline Akers; her beloved dog, Boone; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, March 26 at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Hwy., New Castle, DE 19720, at 11:00am. Friends may call at the church from 9:30-10:30. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made in Dorris' name to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Dr, Newark, DE 19713.
