Edith M. Schneider
Age 93 of Wilmington
Passed away peacefully on February 10, 2024 at Christiana Hospital with her family by her side.
Edith was married to John Schneider for 63 years until his passing in June of 2017.
She was a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
The ultimate stay at home mom, she was always there for her children and loved spending time with them and their friends.
For many years, Edith would spend evenings sitting out in front of the house with her friends, Belle, Lucy, and Betty. Together they spent hours talking, laughing, and waving at the neighbors who drove by. She also loved day trips to Lancaster with her sister, Betty, and their children.
Edith was a great cook and was known for her spaghetti dinners, vegetable soup, Italian cookies, and her famous 1-2-3-4 cakes!
She was an avid reader, loved doing puzzles with her son, Jack, and enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, Doc Martin and As Time Goes By.
Edith Attended Corpus Christi R.C Church, and when unable to attend in person she watched Mass every Sunday on television.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her daughter Sandra Lopez; her sister, Signe "Betty" Tattersall; and brother, James Hand.
She is survived by her sons, John and Thomas (Linda); daughters, Karen, Marie, Susan, Lynn, and Beth Alexander; her grandchildren, Glen Alexander, Anthony Damiani, Nicole Schneider (James Jannuzzio), Ana Lopez, Natalie Lopez (Keith Clouthier) and Daniela Lopez (Wally Hawkins); and her great-grandchildren, Payton Clouthier and Dillion Damiani.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 17th from 10:00am-11:00am at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, DE, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will take place at a later date at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made in Edith's name to the charity of your choosing.
The family would like to add a special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and other staff of Christiana Hospital, and especially AccentCARE Hospice for taking such great care of our mother.
