Edward J. Bennett
(Dick)

Age 87, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Dick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved being with family and friends.

He was the Director of Operations of Colonial National Bank before retiring. He also was a driver and dispatcher for Med Lab.

Dick was a life long member of 70 years at the Elsmere Fire Company where he served as President, Vice President, and Fire Recorder. He also served as Captain and President of the NCC Fire Police Assn. and served as President of the Delaware State Fire Police Assn. He was a member of the Cedar Methodist Church.

Dick was the son of the late Edward G. Bennett and Ruth (Lister) Bennett. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of 54 years; his son, Mark Bennett and his wife Wanda; his granddaughter, Erica all of Chesterfield, VA; his sister, Betty Seamans; his special niece and nephew, Ronald and Donna Bennett; special friends, Ray and Maryellen Lyons; and his beloved poodle, Holly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Friday, October 8th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening. Interment will be private.
