Eleanor F. Dunn
Passed away peacefully in her sleep at Christiana Hospital on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. She was 85 years old.
Eleanor was a graduate of Wilmington High School class of 1946. She was born into St. Thomas' Parish and has been an active member of St. John the Beloved Parish since 1961.
After graduating from Wilmington H. S. Eleanor worked at DuPont, and later Diamond State telephone as an Operator. When her children got older, she returned to work in the 1970's and early 80's working for the Wilmington Catholic Diocese in the Office of the Bishop. She would like to be remembered as a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Eleanor was the daughter of the late James and Nora Fagan. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Dunn; her brothers, James, Donald, and Thomas Fagan; and her sisters, Betty Fagan, Marie Gilson, and Sara Cochran.
She is survived by her sons, John C., James, and William H. N. Dunn III and his wife, Betty Thornton-Dunn; and her daughter, Elizabeth A. Dunn-Deveney and her husband, Sean Deveney. She was the proud Grandmother to Megan Lynn, John David and William H. N. Dunn IV as well as, Sean Patrick and Madeline Marie Deveney; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Beloved, 907 Milltown Rd., Wilmington on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 12 noon. Friends may call at the church from 10:30 am – 12 noon on Wednesday morning. Interment in All Saints Cemetery, Newark.
Donations may be made in her memory to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Delaware Valley Chapter, Marple Commons, 2004 Sproul Road, Suite 208, Broomall, PA 19008, in honor of her granddaughter, Madeline.
