Eleanor L. Mitchell
Age 87 of Elsmere
Passed away at home on July 27, 2021.
Eleanor was born to the late Thomas and Margaret Wolfe Starr Dugan. She was a lifelong Wilmington resident. Eleanor married the love of her life, John L. Mitchell, Sr., on April 19, 1953. Eleanor was very proud of her 30-year career at Wilmington Trust, but her greatest pride was her family. She was an active member of Elsmere Presbyterian Church and Life Member of the Elsmere Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She also enjoyed dancing, roller skating, reading and crossword puzzles and she always cherished time spent with family at Rehoboth Beach.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, John L. Mitchell, Sr, in 2008; her daughter, Karen Mitchell, in 1973; and her daughter-in-law, Theresa Mitchell, in 2015.
Left to cherish her memory are Eleanor's sons, John L. Mitchell Jr, David A. Mitchell, and Mark S. Mitchell; her grandchildren, John L. Mitchell III, Brian Mitchell, Erica Mitchell, Tanya Rossow, Ryan Mitchell, Christina May, and Bradley Mitchell; and her great grandchildren, Aidan, Isis Rose, Tristan Rossow, Jude, Sophia Eleanor, Jaxon, and Grace May.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021, from 3:00pm-5:00pm at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Monday, August 2, 2021, from 10:00am-11:00am. A graveside service will take place on Monday, August 2 at 11:30 am at Silverbrook Cemetery.
