Obituary

Passed away September 11, 2014, three weeks before her 95th birthday, at Kentmere Nursing Home with her family by her side. Eleanor was born October 4, 1919 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Neal Kelley and Catherine (Green) Kelley.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Paul J. Tidwell, former Chief of Police, City of Wilmington; her infant son, Paul J. Tidwell, Jr.; her brothers, Joseph, Francis, and Thomas Kelley; and her dear sister, Alice K. Baldini.
Prior to her short stay in Kentmere Nursing Home, Eleanor lived with her daughter, Colleen Posey and son-in-law, John Posey, for six years. Eleanor worked for the Hercules and DuPont Companies. She generously volunteered her time as a member of the Junior Board of St. Francis Hospital as well as the Ronald McDonald House.
Eleanor was proud of her Irish heritage. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She always helped her family and friends. Her family was blessed to have her in their lives. Eleanor was the perfect role model and the pulse of the family. She will be forever in the hearts of all those that knew her.
Left to cherish Eleanor's memories are her daughter, Colleen Posey and son-in-law, John, and her two grandchildren, Paul Figurell and Kelly Ann Adams and their spouses. She was a loving great grandmother to Kyle, Ryan and Sean.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Kentmere Nursing Home for their devoted and compassionate care. The family is also thankful to Eleanor's son-in-law, John; granddaughter, Kelly Ann; and to her caretaker of two years, Joyce Wright, for their loving and compassionate care, as well as her former neighbor, Blair.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, 10 Barley Mill Rd., Greenville, DE 19807, on Tuesday, September 16 at 10:30 am. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
