Obituary

Eleftherios Karaoglanis, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026, at the age of 86, after a courageous battle with various age-related conditions.

Born December 23, 1939, in the vibrant city of Thessaloniki, Greece, Eleftherios' life was a testament to resilience, love, and devotion.

The son of the late Mr. Iraklis and Eymorfia Karaoglanis, Eleftherious was raised amidst the rich cultural heritage of Greece. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Niki, in Stavropolie, Thessaloniki. Their union was not only a testament to true love, but also a remarkable partnership that spanned over six decades. Together, they embarked on a new journey, moving to the United States in the early 1970's, where they nurtured a family and built a life filled with love and opportunities.

Eleftherios was a nurturing father to his three children, Eymorfia, George, and Iraklis, instilling in them values of kindness, integrity, and the importance of family. His family was his greatest pride, and he dedicated his life to their well-being and happiness. His guidance and wisdom will continue to inspire them to grow into compassionate and honorable individuals.

An avid gardener, Eleftherios found solace and joy in tending to his home vegetable garden for over two decades. His love for the soil and the life it nurtures was a reflection of his nurturing spirit, always cultivating growth and beauty around him.

Eleftherios' legacy is one of love, dedication, and selflessness, remembered fondly by his surviving family members: his devoted wife, Niki, his cherished daughter, Eymorfia, and his sons, George and Iraklis. He is now reunited with his beloved parents, while his memory continues to live on the hearts of all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to the service to honor and celebrate Eleftherious' life on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 11:30 am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 North Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19806. A visitation will take place at the church on Thursday from 10:30-11:30 am. Burial will take place in Silverbrook Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be sent to a charity of your choice in Eleftherios' memory.

The Karaoglanis family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Father Christofolos Oikonomidis and the Holy Trinity Church for the beautiful service and the staff at Krienen-Griffith Funeral home for their compassionate care during this difficult time.

Eleftherios Karaoglanis will be missed dearly, but his spirit and love will forever be cherished by those who were blessed to have known him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
