With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Fotini Visvardis, who took her final breath, unafraid and with an open heart, surrounded by her daughters Christina and Aristea. A woman of beauty and strength, Fotini will always be remembered for her fierce devotion, love, and unwavering support to her family.

Born and raised in Sparta, Greece, Fotini grew up as the youngest child in a humble home with her sister and lifelong best friend Maria, and her brother Ioannis (deceased). There was little in material wealth, but an abundance of faith, love and strength. From an early age she learned the value of hard work and perseverance; she carried these lessons with her throughout her lifetime. She was a devoted daughter, sister, and wife to the late Dimitrios, her husband of 54 years. Fotini was a proud mother to two daughters, Christina (Mark, who generously opened his home and heart to her, and helped her in every way he could) and Aristea, who was a constant loving presence. Fotini was a loving and supportive Yiayia to Wade (Marlee, whose cheerful and upbeat personality endeared her to Yiayia), who loved her dearly, cherished time spent together and who brought her immense joy as her only grandchild. "Thea Fofo" was an aunt to many nieces and nephews and was always happily willing to help all of them in any way she was able to do so. She was a committed and kind godmother (Effie). Fotini was a helpful and good-hearted sister-in-law to Matoula, Socratis, and Ruth; and enjoyed relationships with all of them. Fotini was a loyal and protective friend. She had an especially close and loving relationship with her nephew Stavros who tirelessly helped her with any task large or small. Stavros and his wife, Chrisoula, were generous with their time and hearts to our mother. They were blessed with a little girl, Maritini (combining the names Maria and Fotini) a few years ago. Maritini immediately won our mom's heart and brought joy and laughter to her final years.

Fotini was dedicated to her faith, Greek Orthodoxy. Her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, who suffered, died, was buried, and rose from the dead to conquer sin and death and to grant us eternal life remained a beacon of light throughout her lifetime. Her willingness to serve others became her defining legacy.

Her life was a story of resilience, love, and generosity. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of her family.
