Frances Emma (Swarter) Chew
Age 77 of Wilmington

Passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

Frances was born on March 19, 1947 to the late Francis A. and Emma Oleita (Knight) Swarter. She grew up in Wilmington attending St. Paul's Grade School and was a proud graduate of Corpus Christi High School. In 1966 Frances married the love of her life, Thomas Chew. Together they shared 50 years of love and marriage raising their son.

Frances was a dedicated employee of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance, retiring after 30 years. Not one to sit still, Frances went back to work as an administrative assistant for 15 years at Delaware Park.

Frances loved animals, especially all the cats she gave a loving home to over the years. Frances was also an avid follower of the NASCAR series and in her younger years she and her husband made yearly trips to Dover Downs to watch the races. But most of all Frances loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Chew, and her brother, Ronald Swarter. Also preceding her in death was Les Dorney and Norman Dorney.

Frances will be dearly missed by her son, Christopher Chew (Michele); her sister, JoAnne Swarter; and her great granddaughter, Valencia. She is also survived by her dear companion, John Forester.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, 905 New Rd., Wilm., DE 19805, on Wednesday, October 16 at 1:00 pm. Friends may call at the church from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm. Interment will take place privately.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Frances' name to Faithful Friends Animal Society, 165 Airport Rd., New Castle, DE 19720.
