Francesca DiAlessandro
Died November 28, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years old.
Francesca was born Sabatina DiGiacinto in Civitella Del Tronto, Italy on February 29, 1920. On October 1, 1941 she married Antonio DiAlessandro and moved to Sant Omero, Italy. Together they raised two sons and in 1959 the family moved to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada where her parents and brothers resided. In December 1961 the family moved to New Castle, Delaware where she lived the remainder of her life in love and service to family and friends. She was a member of St. Peter Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, Order Sons of Italy, and St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church.
Francesca was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio; grandson, Antonio; her parents, Giovanni and Annunziata; in-laws, Omero and Agnesa; brothers, Primo, Sandreno, Costantino; and sisters, Irma and Antontella. Francesca's survivors include her brother, Pasqualino and his wife Zairra; son, Marcello and wife Barbara; son, Ennio and wife Theresa; 8 grandchildren, Anthony (deceased) wife Angela, Michael and wife Keri, Angela McVey and husband Tony, Lisa Ioannoni and husband Mike, Roseann DiAlessandro, Ennio DiAlessandro II, Dana Read and husband John, Cristina Mariano and husband Ryan; 14 great grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Sarah, Mario, Angelo, Paige, Amanda, Sara, William, Alayna, Anthony, Gia, Giuliana, Marcello; and many adopted grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family gives a special thank you to her loving caregivers, Linda, Loretta, Colleen, Maggie, Lorraine,and nurse Beverly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, on Monday morning, December 5, 2011 at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 4 pm to 6 pm on Sunday evening, December 4, 2011. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. Interment in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
Donations may be made to St. Peter the Apostle R. C. Church, 521 Harmony St., New Castle, DE 19720 in her memory.
