Francis X. Malloy, Age 90 of Charlestown, MD and Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Francis was born July 25,1933, to the late John and Catherine Malloy.

Francis served on the Wilmington Fire Department for almost 25 years, retiring as the Deputy Chief. During his tenure he was a leader and teacher who was respected by all who had the privilege of serving with him. In addition to his time on the Wilmington Fire Department, he was an instructor at the Delaware State Fire School for more than 40 years. His wife, Pat, and his family were the most important things in his life. He especially enjoyed spending time at the beach house with his children and his cherished grandchildren. Those who knew him will surely remember his quick wit and will never forget his "smiling eyes".

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, the love of his life, Patricia McGinnis Malloy; his sister, Elizabeth C. Meroth; his eldest son, Francis X. Malloy, Jr; and youngest daughter, Erin Malloy. Francis is survived by his 10 children Bernard (Donna), Michael, John, Kevin (Louise), Timothy, Matthew (Toni), Mary Spencer, Patricia Malloy, Amy Bosso (Ed), and Sara Howell (Greg); his 20 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Francis also leaves his eldest sister, Sr. Mary of the Poor Clare Order of Nuns in Andover MA., his brothers Jack (Kay) and Danny (Janice) and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, 901 N. DuPont St., Wilmington, DE 19805, on April 8, 2024 at 12:00 noon. Friends may call at the church from 10:30am-12:00pm. Interment will take place immediately following mass at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Francis's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org, or Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Shopping Center 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19711
