Obituary

Frank H. Harrison, Jr.

Age 95, born June 1915, died Sunday, January 30, 2011, after a short illness.

Frank was a lifelong member of Elsmere Presbyterian Church having been confirmed in 1922, later becoming an Elder and always helping out whenever he could.

A veteran of WWII, 1943-1945, he served with Company B 726th Railroad Operating Battalion in India, Burma/China Hump. After returning home he rejoined the B & O Railroad where he worked before being drafted, working his way up to becoming a car foreman/supervisor and continued working until his retirement in 1976, after 34 years. Upon retirement, he and Barbara enjoyed traveling through the U.S. and spending time with family and friends.

He was a lifetime member (approximately 40 years) of the Wilmington Manor Lions Club in New Castle, working his way up through the chairs to become President of that club in the 90's.

He was a member of A.F.-A.M. Masonic Armstrong Lodge #26 and the A.F.– A.M. Lodge #38 High Noon for about 40 years.

After Barbara's passing he called bingo two to three times a week at Manor Care Nursing Home on Limestone Road for the passed 5 ½ years, he enjoyed doing this very much and looked forward to being with his girls.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Barbara (Bramble) Harrison in 2005. He is survived by his daughter, Kay Meadows and her husband John; a granddaughter, Raynell Hoffman; and two great grandsons, Ian and Alex Hoffman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Elsmere Presbyterian Church, New Road and Ohio Avenue, Elsmere on Friday, February 4th at 11 a.m. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church Friday morning. Interment in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.
