Gerald L. Wilson, 81, of Elsmere, Delaware, died peacefully on Thursday, November 6. Jerry was a devoted family man, an active member of his church, a proud union electrician and an avid high school sports fan. His selfless, generous, social nature was a gift to all who knew him. He gave the best of himself to his family, his work, and his community.
Jerry was born in Wilmington, DE, and attended Wilmington High School. After serving in the US Army, he married Ann Merrill, his wife of 57 years. He enjoyed many happy years with his adoring family and close neighbors and friends. He was a fifty plus year member of IBEW Local Union 313, where he made lifelong friends and achieved the level of master electrician. He donated many hours of volunteer time at Corpus Christi Church and was the recipient of the Diocesan Merit Award for Outstanding Service. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed local high school sports, especially St. Elizabeth High School football.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, and his son, James Robert. He is survived by daughters, Kathy Neal (Tim), Mary Kempski (Frank), Patricia Wilson, (Terrence), Ann Jung (Wayne), and Ellen Hannon (John), 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, on Tuesday, November 11 from 6-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 901 New Rd., Elsmere on Wednesday, November 12 at 10am Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Newark.
