Geraldine "Gerri" (Sweeney) Raymond

Age 76 of Wilmington

Passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Christiana Hospital.

Gerri was born in Wilmington to the late, Paul and Helen (Burns) Sweeney. She was a proud graduate of St. Elizabeth Grade and High Schools. She worked her entire career at the DuPont Company, retiring after 37 years of dedicated service. Gerri also enjoyed volunteering and spent 10 years giving back at A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital

Gerri was a fanatic Eagles fan and spent every Sunday cheering them on. She was an avid reader especially mystery novels and loved to watch Court TV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary (Abe) Sweeney Lennon and Ann M. Sweeney; and her nephew, Michael Sweeney.

Gerri will be dearly missed by her husband of 49 years, Edward Raymond, Jr; brother, Jim (Barbara) Sweeney of Wilmington; and her sisters, Kit Nennstiehl (George) and Eileen Ristow (Bob). She is also survived by her cousin, Kathleen Reynolds, as well as three generations of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank our niece Kate Sweeney-Simmons for all her love and support in caring for Gerri.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life service for Gerri at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm. DE on Friday, October 20 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am-11:00 am. Interment will take place immediately following the service at All Saints Cemetery.
