Gladys Ann Collins

Gladys Ann Collins (Perregrino) 81, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away suddenly on February 19, 2026. Gladys Ann was born in Wilmington to the late Louise (Carey) Sawka, Stepfather Walter Sawka and Angelo Perregrino. She was a 1963 graduate of John Dickinson High School where she participated in band playing the clarinet.

 Gladys Ann began her professional career as a bookkeeper with Delaware State Parks, Shop n Bag Groceries and her family's business L & L Jewelers.

Gladys Ann really loved her family, spending time with her nieces, nephews, cousins and her friends. She enjoyed hosting parties and was most famous for her Halloween parties. Gladys was part of the "Conrad Girls" monthly lunch group. She enjoyed her second home in Pot Nets, boating and fishing over the years.

 Gladys Ann was preceded in death by her ex-Robert Collins, parents, and brother Joseph Sawka.

Gladys Ann is survived by her sister, Lida (Sawka) Sarnecky (Joseph), brother Angelo Perregrino (Ellen); her nieces and nephews, Ryan Sarnecky (Daniella), Ashley (Sarnecky) Tucker (James), Theresa (Perregrino) O'Connor (Paul), Thomas Perregrino (Jullian Scott), and Lisa (Perregrino)Lutes (Brian), Kim Collins, William Collins Jr., Robert Collins, and 16 great nieces and nephews.

Gladys Ann was deeply loved and will be forever missed as a devoted sister, cherished aunt, loving godmother to Steve, dear cousin, and treasured friend.

Gladys Ann's family wishes to thank the staff of the Lorelton for their excellent care and companionship.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Friday morning March 20, 2026 at 12:00 pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 am - 12:00pm. Interment will be private.
