Gloria Jackson
Age 96 of Wilmington, DE
Passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024.
Gloria was one of four daughters born to the late Russell and Katie (Shook) Messinger. She and her sisters enjoyed their childhood growing up in Bangor, Pennsylvania. During World War II, Gloria went to work in the local hosiery factory where she helped to make parachutes for the Army. In 1946, she married Carl W. Jackson and together they moved to Wilmington, DE.
Gloria was an employee of Wiltex Inc., retiring after 27 years of dedicated service.
Gloria loved the simple things in life. She enjoyed filling the house with songs on Saturdays and always made sure her hair and nails were done. She was an expert shopper and took great pride in her high heel and purse collections. Gloria also enjoyed traveling to colder regions, including many northern states and Canada
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and her sisters, Mildred Person, Eleanor Briscoe, and Shirley Smith.
Gloria will be dearly missed by her children, Kenneth, Dennis (Lisa), Brenda (David) and James (Kathryn); her grandchildren, David (Shelley), Daniel (Rebecca), Christopher, Eric, Gregory, James, Robert and Jennifer Jackson (Ken Taylor); as well as her seven great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Friday, June 7 from 11:00 am-12:30 pm. Celebration of Life Service will take place at the funeral home at 12:30 pm. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
