Age 91 of Millsboro, DE
Passed away February 2, 2026.
Harold was born on September 8, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Harold F. and Jeanette (Brown) Spencer. He moved to Delaware as a young man and started his career and family.
Harold as a dedicated employee of Dupont for nearly 40 years. Serving in many capabilities and retiring as supervisor.
An avid outdoorsman, Harold had a passion for archery, fishing, and deer hunting, hobbies that reflected his love for nature and the great outdoors. In 1974, he had the honor of serving as the president of the local rod and gun club, where he fostered a strong sense of community and camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts.
Harold was preceded in death by dear wife, Ruth, and his siblings, Evelyn Gladstone, Doris Woods, and Willard Spencer.
He is survived by his two sons, Donald Spencer (Debbie) and David Spencer (Brenda), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Jill Hall (Alfred), Dawn Cathell (Brian), David M. Spencer (Shelley), Daniel Spencer (Rebecca), and Christopher. Harold also took great joy in being a great-grandfather to Alfred V, Elise, Alaina, Scott, Ellen, Connor, Patrick, and Tyler. He is additionally survived by his sister, Barbara Mitchell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Harold at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on February 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Interment will take place privately on Friday, February 13 at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
Harold D. Spencer will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
