Hedwig (Jankowski) Payne
"Hattie"

Age 94, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital.

She was a lifetime member of St. Hedwig Church. She was a member of Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, an honorary member of the Holy Rosary Society, and member of West Center City Senior Group.
Hattie enjoyed being a homemaker, loved to crochet and do crafts at the senior center. She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Jankowski. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Payne, Sr. in 1994; her son, Joseph A. Payne, Jr. in 1995; her son-in-law, John Kane; brothers, Stanley and John; and sister, Jane Stopyra. She is survived by her sister, Helen Sidowski of Wilmington, DE; daughter, Patricia Kane; grandchildren, John R. Kane, Jr. and wife Susan, Sandra L. Testa and her husband Mike; and great grandchildren, Michael, Juliana, Adrienne Testa, and Haily Kane; and many nieces and nephews
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville, her residence for the past three years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Hedwig's R. C. Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, on Saturday morning, September 10th at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
