Entered into eternal life on January 15, 2015.
Born in Wilmington, DE to the late Mary (Markiewicz) and John Jankowski. Helen resided in her Elsmere family home for 60 years prior to spending her last 4 years as a resident of Millcroft Healthcare Center.
During WWII Helen was a welder with Pusey and Jones at the Wilmington Shipyard, now known as the Riverfront. Helen retired from the Dietary Department of the Christiana Hospital in 1985. After retirement she worked in the offices of M&M Distributing (Kiddie World).
Helen enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking. She was a talented Polish cook who showed her love by always making sure you never went hungry after a visit. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother as well as a wonderful homemaker.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Francis A. Sidowski; sisters, Jane (Stopyra) and Hedwig "Hattie" Payne; and brothers, John and Stanley.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Richard Sidowski (Linda) of Bear, Thomas Sidowski of Pike Creek, and Maryann Ridall (Randy) of Newark; 5 grandchildren, Lori (Beau) Sauselein of Newark, Richard Davis, Jr. (Sophie) of Las Vegas, NV, Kristina Faircloth (Alex) of Newark, Michelle Janvier (Mark) of Newark; and David Sidowski (Lauren) of Newark; and 11 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Millcroft for their incredible loving care and compassion as well as a special thank you to Seasons Hospice.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 901 New Rd., Elsmere, DE 19805, at 10:00am on Tuesday, Jan 20. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Monday, Jan 19 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Millcroft Employee Appreciations Fund, 255 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711.
