Helen V. Wilson
"Diddy"
Age 92, Diddy, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, DE, passed away on May 19, 2010.
She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and a 1939 graduate of the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an R.N. at the Delaware and Wilmington General Hospitals through the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. She also worked as an Infirmary Nurse at Delaware Park and the Brandywine Race Track in the 1960s and 70s. She was an active volunteer in the Richardson Park Community Action Program (CAP) and was a longtime member of the Richardson Park United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her hobbies included ceramics, crocheting, needlecraft, reading, yard sales, acrylic and watercolor painting, and gardening. She particularly loved roses.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur S. and Elva (Lockerman) Richardson. Diddy was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, C. Hunter Wilson. She is survived by her loving daughters, Barbara E. Gray of Wilmington, DE, and Vivian W. Corbit; Vivian's husband, Ronald of Hockessin, DE; her devoted grandchildren, Thomas Gray and his wife Andrea of Rockport, Maine; Virginia Gould and her husband Brandon of Newark, DE; Brett Corbit and his wife Jaimee of Wilmington, DE; and Vivian E. Corbit of Hockessin, DE; as well as five great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Friday, May 28th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday. Interment will be private.
