Obituary

Henry J. Pratt, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021, surrounded by his adoring loved ones, he was 87 years old. Son of Henry J. Pratt, Sr. and Vera Pratt of Wilmington, Delaware, Henry continued to be a Wilmington resident his entire life.

In his early years, Henry played semi pro baseball and continued his love of baseball as a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies fan. In the 1950's, Henry proudly served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Cadmus. He enjoyed seeing the world and visited many ports during his active duty, including those in Europe and the Caribbean. Henry also had a love for cars, golf, and animals. In his later years, Henry developed a fondness for birds and enjoyed spending time outdoors caring for them. Although he was a quiet man, he always enjoyed a good joke and often used his own quick wit to make others laugh. But of all of Henry's interests, he most enjoyed being a husband, dad, and Pop-pop and devoted his entire life to his family.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary R. Pratt and his brother, George Pratt. He is survived by is daughters, Connie Pratt (Larry) of Wilmington, Jeanne Giordano (Phil) of Wilmington, Carol Pratt (Dayna) of Canada; his grandsons, Danny Salter, Jr. (Erika), Tony Stewart (Ashlee) and Steven Stewart (Stacey); his great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Lily, Charlotte and Ava, all of Wilmington, Delaware.
A private service will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Park for Henry's immediate family on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, where Henry will be honored for his Naval service.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful nursing staff of St. Francis Intensive Care Unit for the care and support they provided.
