Hilma R. Nolan

Passed away peacefully at home on Tues., Oct. 20, 2015.

Hilma was born on June 19, 1930 in Greenbrier County, WV to the late Newton Warren and Rosa Mable (Hinkle) Higginbotham. She loved to travel and was an avid reader. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, C. Lewis Combs, second husband, Patrick Nolan, grandson, Charlie Cavanaugh, Jr., and by 8 siblings, Arnett, Herbert, Billie, Houston Ray (twin), Mary, Marie, Gladys Carol, and Margie.

Hilma is survived by her children, David Combs (Lori), Dawn Cavanaugh, (Charles), Mark Combs (Kari); grandchildren, Sara Corcoran (Pete), Jill Carroll (John), Amy Dunn (Colin), Jeff Vitcusky (Diana), Christy Cunningham (Bryan), Scott Cavanaugh (Stacy Wentling), Zach Combs; 13 great-grandchildren, CeCe, Caitlin, Bryan, Ciely, Casey, Patrick, Ivy, Amanda, Justin, Caden, Addison, Spencer, and Charlie; siblings, Vermont Neff, Shirley Nolan, Jack Higginbotham (Barbara); many loving and caring nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Service on Mon., Oct. 26, at 11:00 am at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere. A viewing will take place at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.
