In Loving memory of Iraklis "Eric" Karaoglanis.
(January 1st, 1965- October 30th, 2026.)

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Iraklis Eric Karaoglanis, who passed away on October 30th, 2026 at the age of 61.

Born in Thessaloniki Greece, Eric immigrated to the United States with his family in 1973, beginning a new chapter of life filled with family, opportunity and lasting memories. He spent much of his childhood in Eddystone, Pennsylvania, where he and his brother George enjoyed an active upbringing surrounded by other Greek children and families. Those early years created cherished memories and lasting bonds that remained close to his heart throughout his life. In 1978, the family relocated to Wilmington, Delaware, where they continued building their lives together.

Eric was a strong, intelligent, and determined man who took great pride in his family. As the older brother, he was protective, looking out for his younger siblings and making sure they were safe and cared for. He naturally embraced the role of protector, someone his family could depend on through life's challenges. His presence brought strength, reassurance, and a sense of security to those he loved.

As his parents grew older, Eric took an even greater role within the family. Without hesitation, he devoted himself to their care, taking responsibility for their well-being and assuming many of the family's responsibilities. He became the family's guiding force and the head of the household, ensuring that his parents were cared for and that family matters were handled. He carried these responsibilities with dedication, love, and a deep sense of duty.

In 2018, Eric received the extraordinary gift of a heart transplant. His health improved tremendously, allowing him to embrace life with renewed strength and hope. He made the most of this second chance, including take two memorable trips to Greece with his family to attend to family business matters. During these visits, Eric reconnected deeply with his homeland and developed an even greater appreciation for his Greek roots. He often spoke of his dream of eventually retiring in Greece, returning to the country where his story began and spending his later years surrounded by the beauty and heritage of his homeland.

Throughout his life, Eric remained focused on one thing above all else; his family. He worked to ensure their stability, their well-being, and their future. His love was not measured by words alone, but his actions, his family sacrifices, and the responsibilities he willingly carried. He was always thinking ahead, making sure that the family would be taken care of and that future generations would have opportunities to prosper.

To his family, Eric was much more than a brother and son. He was source of strength, a protector a guiding presence, and someone whose love was unwavering. He was truly the best big brother anyone could ask for.

Eric's life was one of devotion, responsibility, resilience, and unconditional family love. He will forever be remembered for the man he was, the sacrifices he made, and the love he gave so generously.

Rest peacefully Eric. You were our protector, our strength, and our beloved brother. Your place in our hearts will never be replaced, and your love will remain with us forever. Eric is survived by his mother, Nicoletta Karaoglanis, his younger brother George Karaoglanis and his baby sister Eymorfia Viky Karaoglanis.
