Jacqueline A. "Jackie" Becker
Age 76, died on December 31, 2009 at Christiana Care Hospital surrounded by her family.
Jackie was the eldest daughter of Peter and Anna Donofrio. She graduated from Wilmington High School. She went on to marry James Becker in 1952 and was married to her husband for 57 years. Jackie prided herself on being a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a life-long member of Corpus Christi Church. Nothing pleased Jackie more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson.
In her younger years, Jackie was an avid bowler winning many awards for her high scores. She also enjoyed baking for all her friends and family. She spent many years working elections at the Elsmere Fire Hall assisting voters.
Later, she volunteered her time as a mentor for Bayard School and also helped recruit new members from the local Senior Center. Jackie enjoyed making others happy and did so through little acts of kindness such as taking her collection of beanie babies to children at A.I. DuPont Hospital.
She is survived by her loving husband Jim of Bear, DE ; her children, Linda Huhn and her partner Dave of Lewes, DE, Mike Becker and his wife Chris of Columbus, OH, and Terri Lenhoff and her husband Mark of Bear, DE; her grandchildren, Kimberly, David, Rachael, Stephen, and Christie; and her great-grandson James "Jack". She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Cann of Pike Creek, DE, and Marian Parisi and her husband James of Wilmington, DE; her brother, Peter Donofrio and his wife Tina of Rehoboth, DE; her brother-in-law, Robert Becker; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R. C. Church, 901 New Rd., Elsmere on Wednesday morning, January 6th at 11 a.m. Friends may call at the church Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
