James W. McKee
Age 80 of Bear
Passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024.
Jim was born in Johnstown, PA to the late Jack and Marcella (Finnegan) McKee. He grew up in Wilmington with his siblings and attended Mt. Pleasant High School. On June 9, 1962, Jim married the love of his life, Vivian Russell. Together they shared 61 loving years building their lives and raising their family.
Jim was a skilled electrician. He worked for Westinghouse for several years before starting his own electrical contracting company, McKee Electric, in the 1970s.
Jim had a passion for cars. He loved working on them, driving them, and admiring others work at many local car shows. He was the true definition of a people person and easily made friends everywhere he went. Jim will be most remembered as a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a doting grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Marcella Thomas.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Vivian McKee; his children, Jimmy McKee (Vivian) and Kenny McKee (Judie); his grandchildren, JW McKee, Mandee Spence (John), Emily Esposito (Dom), and Hannah McKee; and his great grandchildren, Paige and Sophie. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Pryslak (Mike), and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Monday, Jan 8, 2024 at 12:00 noon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00am-12:00 noon. Interment will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Jim's name to the Alzheimer's Association, https://act.alz.org/.
