James C. Smith, Jr.
Age 46 of Elkton, Maryland
Affectionately known as Jamie or Smitty
Passed away on December 28, 2025.
Jamie was born in Wilmington, DE to James C. and Nancy M. (Kelley) Smith, Sr. and grew up in Yorklyn, DE. He graduated from Delcastle High School in 1997. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, faithfully serving his country during Operation Enduring Freedom. He was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal in 2003.
Jamie was a dedicated employee of Fidelity Engineering in Sparks, MD, where he worked as a generator technician.
Jamie loved to live life to the fullest. He loved loud boats, loud trucks, and loud cars. As an avid boatman, Jamie enjoyed long hours on the Chesapeake Bay and High Rock Lake and fishing with his family. He enjoyed a good adventure and was always up for a road trip to visit family in West Virginia and North Carolina. He was a mac and cheese aficionado (his mother's was the best). He also enjoyed a good smokey bourbon shared with the friends at the "Boat House". But most of all Jamie loved his family. He was happiest simply spending time with his wife and daughter.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Florence Smith and Paul and Elizabeth Kelley; his uncle, James Taylor; and his father-in-law, Dennis Hill.
Jamie will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Amber (Hill) Smith and his adoring daughter, Ensleigh. He is also survived by his parents, James and Nancy Smith of Paw Paw WV; his siblings, Jennifer McHugh (Rich) of Newark and Joshua Smith (Bree) of Dagsboro; his nephews, Colin Birch, Robert McHugh, John McHugh, and Joshua Smith; his nieces, Kaitlynne Smith, Savannah Smith, and Madison Smith; his mother-in-law, Janet Hill of Goldhill, NC; and brother-in-law, Eric Hill of Goldhill, NC. Jamie is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
