Obituary

Janice M. Belisle

Janice (Cote) Belisle, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away July 1, 2026 at the age of 68.

Janice was born to Donald and Ethel (Mulcahy) Cote on January 16, 1958. She married the love of her life, Donald Belisle, in Woonsocket R.I. on April 13, 1991. Until his illness and subsequent passing in 2013, Janice and Donald enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, and cheering on the Red Sox. They enjoyed sharing these activities with their life-long friend Christine and her sons Jacob and Ryan. Janice and Donald considered the boys their unofficial nephews.

As a Navy brat, Janice and her siblings travelled to many states during childhood. When her parents settled in Wilmington, DE, Janice attended Oak Grove Middle School and

Conrad High School. Janice later relocated to Woonsocket R.I. to care for her grandmother.

After her grandmother's passing, Janice became a medication technician at Mt. St. Francis Nursing Care Facility in Woonsocket. She continued there for many years and found fulfilment in providing patient care. When her husband became ill, Janice dedicated all of her love, time, and energy to seeking and providing the best care he could receive. With the passing of her husband, Janice returned to Wilmington to provide that same level of unselfish care for her elderly father.

Janice enjoyed crafting, discovering treasures at auctions and thrift stores, reselling and camping. She loved cooking for and being surrounded by the chaos and love of her large extended family and participating in all of their life events.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ethel, her husband Donald, her brother Donald "Sonny", and her brother-in-law Mark "Kelly" Hynson. She is survived by her siblings Carol (Bill) Loerop, Ronald (Charlene) Cote, Donna (John) Bradford, Lorraine Hynson, and Paul (Elizabeth) Cote. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Erin (Andrew), Billy, Daniel (KellyLynn), Colt, Jessica (JD), Terri (Kevin), Mark (Melissa), Kristina (Mike), Nick (El), and Megan (Jesse) and the many grandnieces and grandnephews she adored and who loved "Princess" Janice.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her honor to Donate Life America, Organdonor.gov, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, or a charity of your choice. At her request, a private ceremony will be held to honor both Janice and her husband Donald. Janice asked that any family and friends who wished to celebrate her life do so by having a fun experience dressed in tie-dye, peace symbols, or "hippie" attire. She wanted people to smile when they remember her. We shall all miss her.
