Jeannette Wismer
Jeannette Wismer of Elsmere left us on Thursday, March 15, 2012 as a result of complications from a stroke. Jeannette's star shined upon the earth for 80 years.
Born a South Philly girl on October 11, 1931, she will always be remembered for her starlight twinkle and the ray of sunshine she carried in her pocket. Jeannette married the love of her life, Carl Wismer, who served in the U.S. Army and preceded her in death in 1962. She is survived by the children she was immensely proud of, Carl Wismer and his wife Cathy, Mike Wismer and his wife Lisa, Bill Wismer, and her devoted daughter Lisa Romano and her husband Chip. Jeannette held a special place in her heart for her wonderful grandchildren Eric Wismer, Brian Wismer, Jessica Romano and Emily Romano. Her life revolved around the radiance of her children and grandchildren.
Jeannette is also survived by her much loved siblings, sister, Rita Tasca and brothers, Jules Tasca (Karen), and Ed Tasca (Dianna).
A kind and gentle woman, Jeannette was happiest when surrounded by her family. Her greatest accomplishment was the simple act of being a mother. She was a loving mother and doting grandmother; she loved animals, crocheting, "I Love Lucy", and reading tarot cards for family and friends. Her sense of humor was effervescent, her wit poignant, and her optimism contagious.
A Roman Catholic she devoted her life to God and to his church, especially her parish of some 50 years, Corpus Christi where she attended mass regularly and served as an usher . Jeannette found time for her community and was a distinguished Lifetime Member of the Elsmere Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was an active and vibrant participant who was always willing to help.
She left the world with the same peace and harmony she strived to achieve during her lifetime.
Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway Elsmere, DE on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 4-6pm. Mass on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 10:00 am at Corpus Christi Parish, 901 New Rd., Elsmere. Burial is private.
