Passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
JoAnne was born on Aug 29, 1940 the youngest of 11 children. She was the daughter of the late Alex Rybicki and Mary Serwatka. JoAnn graduated from Wilmington High School in 1958. She married her devoted husband, Edward J. Scott on Oct 12, 1963. Together they lived in Delaware and raised their 2 children.
JoAnne worked in DelCastle High School Cafeteria for many years. She donated her time to the Department of Elections, participating in both presidential and primary campaigns. She was also a volunteer for the Corpus Christi and St. John the Beloved Carnivals as well as the Italian Festival. JoAnne was a member of the Oak Grove Senior Center. She had many hobbies including: bingo, attending craft shows and yard sales, and cheering on her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. JoAnne was a true matriarch and cherished all the time she was able to spend with her family.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank Rybicki, John Rybicki, Stella Romanchuk, Edward Rybicki, Cele La Rue, Joseph Rybicki, Helen Basara, Alex Rybicki, and Walter Rybicki.
JoAnne is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Edward; her children, Lisa A. Maney (Dave) and David M. Scott; and her beloved grandchildren, David J. Jr. and Ashlee L. Maney. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Gurczenski, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 901 New Rd., Wilm., DE 19805, on Wednesday, March 4 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at the Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805 from 9:00-10:30am. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in JoAnne's name to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive #101, Newark, DE 19713.
