Obituary

John William Hitchens, 3rd

Thursday, January 24, 2013, was a sad & devastating day for the family of John William Hitchens, 3rd know to all as "Billy" as his life came to a sudden end at age of 49.

Billy was a true free spirit-loving all types of activities starting back as far as St, Peter's championship football team, baseball with New Castle Little League, and a lineman for William Penn football class of 1981. He went on to do his 5 year apprenticeship with Pipefitters Local 80 and became a skilled craftsman for what is now Local 74. Billy spent many years as a volunteer firefighter with Goodwill and also loved and devoted much of his time to hunting, fishing, crabbing , watching sports and bull jiving with his extended friends and family. Never can it not be said that he didn't have a truly large heart!!

He was the son of the late Willis G. and Shirley M. Hitchens. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, John W. and his beloved Harriett Hitchens. Billy is survived by his brother, Willis and his wife Judy and niece Katie; 2 sisters, Kim Robinette and Bonita Hilliard; his aunts, Anne (Jimmy), and Penny (Mack); his uncles, Danny, Mike, Bobby (Helen), Eddie (Barbara), and Charlie (Margie). He will be deeply missed also by a host of nieces and nephews as well as his beloved cousins, friends, and his godchild.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11 am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Wednesday evening. Interment in Glebe Cemetery, New Castle.
