John J. Quinn, Jr.
"Jack"
Of Wilmington and Fenwick Island, DE, died suddenly on June 3, 2010, in Wilmington at age 76.
A stranger to no one and beloved by all, Jack married his high school sweetheart Anne, and always said he "married up." Jack loved nothing more and was never more proud than when he was surrounded by his wife and many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, large extended family and countless friends. He was our rock who loved his boat, the ocean and traveling, but most of all the love of his life, Anne, and the family they had together. They were his cornerstone. Jack's frequent and infectious laugh, eternal optimism and sense of humor stood us all in good stead in bad times and good. His musical tastes ran an unlikely gamut – from Neil Diamond, Bruce Springsteen and anything country, to the 1812 Overture played at sunset on the beach – and he was always the first one on the dance floor. Jack and Anne were season ticket holders for the University of Delaware Blue Hens and loved going to the football games, especially when they played Navy. His curiosity was insatiable, his language sometimes colorful, and he was the best example to us all not only how to live, but to really enjoy life to the fullest. And he did.
Jack was born in Wilmington on April 9, 1934, to John J. Quinn, Sr. and Mildred A. Desmond.
Jack graduated from Salesianum School and attended the University of Delaware. He was enlisted in the United States Navy from 1955-57.
Jack was a member of St. John the Beloved Parish for 52 years. He was a 50-year member of the Board of Realtors and Licensed Real Estate Broker. He owned the Stanton and Five Points Car Washes, and was a proud member of the International Car Wash Association.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Thomas and Joseph, his sister Jewel, and his daughter, Karen.
Jack is survived by his wife, Anne (nee Malloy); his daughters and their husbands, Diane and Bill Deery, Anne Marie and Ted Babiy, Mary and Ron Boord, and Eileen and Chris Peters; his sons, Jack Quinn and his wife, Mary, Joseph Quinn and Kevin Quinn; his brother, Paul Gerard Quinn; his sisters, Clare Kane and Kathleen and her husband, Tom Stringer; his sister in law, Noreen Quinn; 19 grandchildren Mary Ellen, Linda, Casey, Marie, Stephanie, Taylor, Maggie, Clare, Jen, Joshua, Sydney, Shannon, Jacob, Katie, Brenna, Merritt, Christopher, Ellie, and Ronan, and his 3 great-grandchildren Katie, Bella, and Joseph.
